Terraria can't stop getting updates, and that's something most fans are more than happy with. Re-Logic always knocks it out of the park with new Terraria content, and 1.4.5 looks to be jam-packed with exciting new stuff.
1.4.5 was announced about a year ago, with talks of it being a smaller-scope update. As is common for Terraria updates, it ballooned out of control; now the upcoming update will feature a smorgasbord of new features. These include everything from quality-of-life changes, new items, new enemies, new music, and much more. Information on the upcoming update is spread across X, official Terraria forums, and reveals promoted by online personalities like ChippyGaming.

What Fans Can Expect From Terraria 1.4.5
Boss Touchups
Bosses are far and away one of the the most beloved aspects of Terraria, with almost everything in the game revolving around them in one way or another. Therefore, it's big news that some bosses are getting facelifts. This is quite literal in the case of the Moon Lord, Terraria's final boss, who's getting a new sprite and more animation work. In addition, many bosses are getting new boss themes, two of which (Eater of Worlds and The Twins) can be heard right now on YouTube. The Torch God event, Skeletron, Skeletron Prime, and King Slime are also getting new themes. In addition, boss trophies will also receive new sprites.
New Items, Item Changes, And Quality-Of-Life
Transformations work similarly to Terraria's mounts, with items like Lilith's Necklace using the mount slot but turning the user into a wolf, rather than grant a ridable wolf. 1.4.5 will add new transformation items, including both dinosaur, rat and bat transformations. There are also many new weapons, including a number of new whips, a boomerang that can cut into trees, ice bombs, a slingshot, and a weapon for each class from the upcoming Dead Cells crossover event. Terraria has already crossed over with multiple indie games, including Dungeon Defenders 2, Don't Starve Together, and Stardew Valley. Each have provided permanent content updates to the game, and the Dead Cells crossover will be no different.
This is all without mentioning changes to existing items, including to many of Terraria's weapons. Phaseblades in particular have been given an overhaul, now being throwable and able to be wedged into the terrain. The Zombie Arm, Classy Cane, and Flairon are all getting new functionality, and the Harpoon is primed to see its own changes too. Stink Potions will have a use, Clothier Voodoo Dolls will be stackable, the Snowball Launcher will no longer require ammo, and much more.
The above readily leads into quality-of-life changes, which are numerous. Worlds will now display what characters frequent them to avoid confusion, bubbles will retain water after a player logs out, pumps won't burn in lava, fish will be visible in water when fishing, and conveyer belts will move enemies. New storage items are also being considered, including one that could be dropped during the Pirate Invasion. Moreover, numerous resprites are coming to the game, with banners, imp summons, the Slime Staff, and weapon racks seeing makeovers alongside location facelifts, such as in the Lizhard Temple. Such changes have been constant throughout Terraria's lifetime, making each new update definitive at their time of release.
New Enemies And Armors
Few entrants are coming to Terraria's rogues gallery in the new update, with new slime variants (cloud, moonglow, and dart) being revealed thus far. A number of vanity sets will also be coming to the game (including one from Dead Cells), as well as an advanced form of the Miner armor set and a summoner version of Chlorophyte armor.
