Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:

13-game winner Adriana Harmeyer goes for win #14 today against challengers Ty Patton and Kelsey Kaunisviita Vockrodt. Between wins #4 and #13—two days in real time—Adriana has won $227,400. Not bad for two days’ work! This will be her third consecutive day in the studio, though—we’re starting to get into uncharted territory here for superchampions; it’ll be interesting to see how this week goes!

The two films are 1993’s Schindler’s List and 1998’s Shakespeare in Love; the real people are, in the first case, Oskar Schindler, the man who saved thousands of Jewish refugees from the Holocaust by employing them in his factories and whose act was immortalized in the book Schindler’s Ark and later film. The second is William Shakespeare, who, quite frankly, needs no introduction—though the 1998 film depicts a fictional love affair between Shakespeare and Viola de Lesseps during Shakespeare’s writing of Romeo and Juliet.

For a player who has the Best Picture winners of the 1990s memorized, this should be a straightforward Final. For a player who doesn’t, this might be more of a struggle.

Final Jeopardy! wagering suggestions:

(Scores: Adriana $16,200 Ty $13,400 Kelsey $2,200)

Adriana: Standard cover bet over Ty is $10,601. (Actual bet: $10,800)

Ty: If Adriana makes a cover bet and is incorrect, she falls to $5,599. Thus, you should bet between $5,601 (twice the score difference when you’re within 80% of the leader’s score defends against any small bets the leader might make) and $7,800. (Actual bet: $13,399)

Kelsey: Bet whatever you like; however, Adriana has been betting more than cover here—there’s a chance she might overbet and bring you back into contention. The more money you have after Final, the better the chances of that happening. (Actual bet: $0)
