My (27/M) workaholic girlfriend (33/F) won't rest at home even though she's sick. Help?
Unfortunately, I'm back again with more girlfriend troubles.
It's been a while since my last post, so to sum up for the non-regulars?, my girlfriend and I work pretty hectic jobs, but the workload is heavier for her since she works directly with our boss. She starts earlier than me and sometimes ends later than I do, depending on the schedule for the day. Despite the stress, she's married to the job and has adapted to it in the worst possible way with poor eating habits you might expect from people like that - eats cup noodles on most work days for lunch, doesn't eat vegetables unless threatened etc. I've tried to get her to kick the habit with some success by preparing lunches for her, eating out with her whenever possible and basically being her glorified babysitter when she refuses to touch the greens on her plate. Many thanks to everyone who gave me advice on how to nudge her towards a healthier lifestyle without coming off antagonistic in my last post here.
Anyway, it seems like those unhealthy life choices have finally caught up to her, because she now has a fever (which she insists isn't one, because "it's not 38, it's normal"), a runny nose, and a sore throat. The only reason I'm not calling it a cold or the flu is because she refuses to call it what it is no matter what I tell her. Swayed a little when she left the house this morning, and her partner pokemon was visibly concerned. Also insisted that she's fine. She's not.
Sorry for rambling. Would appreciate any advice on how to force her to use her sick days and keep her in bed. Thanks in advance.
Edit for clarity: She has been sick for the past 3 days, her temperature has only gone up steadily because she doesn't take any of the medicine I leave next to her water (she also knows when I dissolve the tablets in the water in advance. I don't know how. She never touches the glasses with pre-dissolved medicine.), her boss is aware that she's ill and has been begging her to rest at home, her coworkers also know she's unwell and have given her stuff like instant oatmeal mix, candy (one of them is a child. Please don't ask.), more medicine, and cooling patches. I know this because she leaves them at home unused and uneaten.

Thanks everyone for all your replies. I won't go into the specifics, but I managed to bribe her into staying at home until she gets better.
Edit: What is wrong with all of you? I turn off my phone for a shower and I come back to literal dozens of DMs and replies asking for clarification? First of all, I'm not replying to all of you individually. Second of all, all I did was promise to spend all of her sick days with her and to take my shirt off while cuddling. Nothing more, nothing less. An associate told me it would work, and it did. And before anyone asks, yes I work out, and yes, I know she likes how my chest looks. I also like it when she's the little spoon and huddled up against my chest. Happy now, you perverts?

and not to op? how does op post stuff like this without crying
herbamysticabeliever・2 d ago
That's rough! I got a buddy who's just like that, usually telling them how bad their body gets without the nutrients from veggies is enough to convince them! Maybe that will help! Lock her in her room until she gets better?
GrushaGlaseadoooooooo・2 d ago
Do you make it up or exaggerate the facts to make it more convincing? Also I'd rather not do that... One time we had an argument and I locked myself in to avoid talking to her and long story short, our neighbours called the police on us eventually. We have been careful about locking the doors during arguments ever since.

I just make sh*t up based on what I know, like calcium in milk is for making bones strong, right? Then I'd just say that not having milk will make your bones go soft and break inside. And sheesh! I'm all outta ideas then!
By the way, you don't happen to actually be Grusha, right?
GrushaGlaseadoooooooo・2 d ago
Ok, I'll see what I can do. Thanks anyway. And no.
Edit: I made chicken noodle soup for dinner so that it'd be easy for her to eat. Forgot about looking up onion facts, but besides that, as expected, she started picking out the onions and thymes from her bowl and chucking them into my bowl. Told her that her skin will go bad if she didn't eat them and she just stared at me with a bewildered look and said "I've got girls throwing themselves all over me even without veggies in my system. Try harder, bud".
The sad truth is that she's right. She's absolutely gorgeous even without eating her greens for some reason. I just sighed and let her carry on with her merry way after that.

hey op, have you ever considered that you might be part of the problem? maybe dont eat her vegs for her everytime?
GrushaGlaseadoooooooo・1 d ago
? I don't see the connection.
paldeanwinds・2 d ago
hello????? op??? wtf did u 2 do for that to happen??
cassiopeiastar・2 d ago
op u 2 work at the same place rite? have u considered filing sick leave on her behalf?
GrushaGlaseadoooooooo・2 d ago
She has higher clearance than I do so that will not work. Trust me, I've tried.
cassiopeiastar・2 d ago
u mention she has a pkmn, does she battle? if she does u can battle her with staying hme as a condition for beating her. thats provided u can beat her in the 1st place tho
GrushaGlaseadoooooooo・2 d ago
Knowing her, she wouldn't pass up on a battle, but our pokemon are pretty big and our house and yard are rather small. Intense battles will absolutely rip our house off its foundation so as much as I would love to try this out, I'm afraid I can't do it. In the interest of everyone involved. Thanks still.

op u gotta be more specific. she's been sick since today? and u just let her go to work like that? what about meds @ home for selfmedicating? does her? ur? boss know?
GrushaGlaseadoooooooo・2 d ago
She's been sick for a few days now by the time of my original post. I've tried to stop her in every way I could but it all failed, so I'm asking for advicd here. We do have medicine at home but she refuses to take them because they should be saved for emergencies only. Whatever that means. And yes her boss knows. Her coworkers know. All she has done so far is drink more water and wear a mask to work. She's going to be the death of me. Added more details to the original post.
superchargedttm・2 d ago
ty 4 the update, why not ask her boss directly? U seem to know them.
GrushaGlaseadoooooooo・2 d ago
...I'd rather not. Sorry. That's entirely off the table.

Sorry to hear what you and your wife are going through, op! It may not be much, but there's actually a good method for keeping the Spinaraks at bay when you're out picnicking together without having to use bug spray! You see, Spinaraks, Ariados and other similar bug-types actually display an aversion to Capsakid teeth! Of course they aren't the only species to display such behaviour, as detailed in this recent study published by a dear friend of mine (link), but if you're able to keep a Capsakid on hand or perhaps befriend a wild one (remember to keep clear at any sign of aggression, of course!), it would do you wonders at repelling unwanted bug pokemon and other mischievous pokemon who are hungry for an easy and quick bite! This is quite possibly the best way to repel the bug pokemon that might spook your wife without introducing toxins into the environment or harming the local ecology of the places you visit, so you will never need to worry about having your sandwiches picked apart by Tarountula and Tadbulbs again! Feel free to @ me for more info if you'd like!

All you really need is a good length of rope and some (figurative) balls to snag her and drag her back home. If rope doesn't work, then some chains should do. Good luck.
