'Hyeri Park Lectures on Dutch Housing at the 2024 Interior Design Week, in Seoul'Today in Seoul, Hyeri Park, an Associate Partner at #KCAP, took part in the 2024 KOSID X THE SHARP: Interior Design Week, which runs from 11-17 June. This event brings together some of the best interior architecture experts and consists of design forums, talks and exhibitions. Park's talk was titled '#Dutch #Housing'. KCAP’s housing projects are characterised by their sustainable design, fluid integration with #urban environments and emphasis on #community-building. Combining architectural #innovation with informal living to foster vibrant communities; they prioritise #green space and urban-#social #responsibility. 'Jeroen Dirckx to Participate in Symposium "Panorama Ukraine" at Erasmus University, in Rotterdam'From 12-14 2024, Jeroen Dirckx, a partner at #KCAP, will take part in a workshop titled 'Panorama Ukraine: Healthy and Future-Proof Neighbourhoods', hosted at The Institute of Housing and Urban Development Studies, at Erasmus University, in Rotterdam. The workshop, part of the larger programming for Panorama Ukraine, aims to consider the spatial development of the redevelopment of Ukraine; focusing on integral sustainability, public and private space gradation, local identity, healthy public spaces, and housing models among other subjects. Dirckx will lead one of six groups in the workshop, which consists of students and graduates working in six groups, each led by a duo of a Ukrainian, and a local, Netherlands-based expert. Group leaders will guide participants through the workshop, concluding with a reflection on their group’s outcomes. 'KCAP to Participate in "Open Office Day" During the 2024 Rotterdam Architecture Month'KCAP is excited to announce our participation in the 'Open Office Day' event, which is part of the 2024 Rotterdam Architecture Month. This event invites visitors to explore the studios of various architecture and design firms in Rotterdam, offering a glimpse into their work environments and projects.At KCAP, we will host presentations and tours every half hour, where visitors can learn about our history, new projects and working methods. Our office is situated within a former Nestlé warehouse next to a harbour undergoing significant transformation, including new housing and cultural activities.Visitors can discover more about Kop van Feijenoord, an area that's being revitalised into a vibrant urban district. A highlight of this is a new residential tower south-end of the Piekstraat, designed by KCAP and currently under construction. 'KCAP's Station Post Building Nominated for the 2024 BREEAM Award'KCAP is excited to announce that the Station Post Building in The Hague, and the headquarters of PostNL, has been nominated for the 2024 Best BREEAM Official In-Use Non-Residential Building Award. The award ceremony will take place on 10 July 2024, in London, thereby recognising global leaders in sustainable architecture.The building, dating from 1939, has been meticulously transformed by KCAP; the interior has been designed by Kraaijvanger Architects. The project revitalised this historic postal sorting centre into a state-of-the-art office space while maintaining its monumental essence. The design features a full-height atrium framed by the building's original prefabricated concrete columns, topped with a skylit roof, and includes zigzagging staircases and cascading floors that evoke the building's industrial past. Sustainability is at the core of this delicate, industrial, historic renovation transformation.The introduction of an internal 'second skin' of glazing significantly enhances energy efficiency, while the layout optimises natural daylight throughout the space. 'KCAP's Station Post Building Published in the 2023/2024 Architecture in the Netherlands Yearbook'Last night in Rotterdam, nai010 publishers presented the 2023/2024 edition of their annual survey publication, the 'Architecture in the Netherlands Yearbook'. Since 1988, the annually appearing publication has been an indispensable compendium to the architecture and design profession, compiling some of the most relevant, trend setting and innovative architecture in the Netherlands completed during the previous year. Station Post Building has been included in this year's edition of the yearbook, chosen as an outstanding example of an energy efficient, sustainable renovation of an existing office; in this case, a former postal sorting centre dating from the 1930s, located in The Hague. KCAP designed the architectural transformation for developers LIFE NV and SENS real estate, while Kraaijvanger Architects was responsible for the interior design, on behalf of PostNL.So state the editors of the yearbook, of Station Post Building: 'The new layout, with a rooftop extension, makes room for a very flexible working environment, not only by increasing the amount of daylight, but also with the addition of atriums and long sightlines, and meeting rooms. The new installations improve the quality of the indoor climate. Blaringhem will share his innovative approach to urban design, focusing on KCAP’s completed and ongoing projects. The lecture will highlight KCAP’s contextualised methods that prioritise the balance between urban, human and natural elements in today's increasingly digital society. 'Amsterdam's Cruquius Island Wins the 2024 NEPROM Prize'KCAP congratulates both Amvest and AM Gebiedsontwikkeling, in collaboration with the City of Amsterdam, for winning the 2024 #NEPROM Prize. Cruquius Island is located at the far southeastern edge of Amsterdam's Eastern Harbour District, and is the last portion of the area to be redeveloped. The NEPROM prize recognises exemplary partnerships between local governments and new property developers that lead to the creation of outstanding urban developments in the Netherlands.#KCAP is proud to have been able to design a housing project on the far-eastern edge of the island, which occupies the island’s curving bend. The project’s 400 apartments are contained in a cluster of rectangular buildings perpendicular to the island’s main access road. This situation ensures that, from the island’s main road, green garden views toward the surrounding water are maintained. 'KCAP ARCHIVE: IJburg Housing, in Amsterdam'IJburg is a modern residential district located on the eastern-edge of #Amsterdam, comprised of a series of artificial islands, which began construction in 1999. This area of the city has been under continual development since that time, and is currently undergoing its second phase, which will more than double its current size. IJburg is eventually expected to be home to about 50.000 residents, and about 20.000 homes.KCAP is responsible for the urban plan and several components of this #housing block, located at the northern-edge of IJburg, parallel to a tram line connecting the area to Amsterdam’s centre.In total, about 115 houses are contained in this block, which was completed in the mid-2000s. Being a variation on the traditional housing-block, it features a semi-private courtyard that can be accessed from street-level, along with business spaces and healthcare areas, creating a blend of urban-mixed-use programming.Read more about the project over on our website:https://lnkd.in/e3G5Y_VT
