New Year’s Eve is fast approaching, and if you’re looking for some easy gluten free food party food recipes, you’ve definitely come to the right place! I’ve teamed up with Juvela to bring you my gluten free party toasts – three ways!

Want to get straight to it? Skip to the recipe.

For these toasts I’ve come up with three toppings: garlicky beans, beef and horseradish, and blue cheese, pear and honey. Together they make a beautiful looking plate of any buffet! They’re all super quick and easy to make, so you can spend the maximum amount of time entertaining and enjoying the party, instead of slaving in the kitchen!

For this post I’ve used the Juvela fresh white bread. You can buy it in Tesco and it’s one of my go-to gluten free basics. I think it has a lovely texture and when baked with some garlic oil for these toasts, it’s absolutely delicious. Perfectly crisp round the edges while still soft and fluffy in the middle.

When picking my flavours for the gluten free toasts the first was easy – Steve is a HUGE fan of horseradish, so I knew I had to make a beef and horseradish one for him. It would be a great way to use up leftovers from your Christmas Day lunch too.

The pear, blue cheese and honey was also a classic choice. Stilton is always a favourite on our Christmas cheese board and I love it combined with the sweetness of the pears and the honey. Finally, the beans were a bit of a curveball! I was just experimenting with some new flavours and found the garlicky beans were just so moreish. I struggled to not eat them all before actually finishing these toasts and photographing them!

Tips for a perfect gluten free party

If you’re hosting a party for someone who is gluten free, don’t fear! It’s not as hard as you think! My top tips to help you out would be:

  • Make everything gluten free. Sounds a bit crazy, but a lot of party foods in the shops are gluten free now, and if you’re making these toasts, I bet no-one will know the difference! That way you don’t have to worry about any cross contamination.
  • Clearly label food. If you can’t make everything gluten free, then make sure you label what is safe for gluten free people to eat. My friend once made me my own little corner of a party food table and everything had cute little flags so I knew what I could eat.
  • Don’t double dip. This is a minefield when it comes to tackling a buffet as someone with coeliac disease! If someone dips a gluten-y breadstick into the guacamole, that renders it untouchable for someone gluten free. Have separate dips or ask everyone to load their plates and dip from there.
  • Have fun and experiment. This is so important! If you’re gluten free, there’s so much more you can eat then carrot sticks and fruit salad! So get inventive – and start with my gluten free toasts!

So without further ado, here are my three gluten free toast recipes to get your party started!

Gluten free party toasts with garlicky beans

These gluten free toasts are a great gluten free and vegetarian party food option. Super simple, and probably the healthiest part of the buffet!

Ingredients

  • 4 slices Juvela white bread
  • 1 tsp garlic infused olive oil
  • 1 tsp butter
  • 1 tsp garlic paste, (or 1 clove garlic peeled and crushed)
  • 1 400g tin cannellini beans, (drained)
  • 1 sprig rosemary

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200'C/Gas 6. Cut each slice of bread in half diagonally (so they are in triangles) and brush one side with garlic olive oil. Lay out on a baking tray (oil side up) and bake for 3-4 minutes until golden.
  2. Meanwhile melt the butter in a pan and add the garlic. Fry on a low heat for 1-2 minutes and then add the beans and rosemary. Heat for another 3-4 minutes, then roughly mash using a potato masher.
  3. Once the bread is removed from the oven, spread each slice generously with the garlicky beans and then decorate with another sprig of rosemary. Best served warm.
