Four from Lincoln Trail named to All-GRAC baseball, softball teams (2024)

Four Lincoln Trail College student-athletes were recognized for their prowess on the diamond this past season by being named to the All-Great Rivers Athletic Conference baseball and softball teams.
The Statesmen had three players named to the All-GRAC baseball team, including an infielder, an outfielder and a pitcher.
Among the 18 named All-GRAC were LTC freshman outfielder James Jett, sophom*ore infielder Max Palmieri and sophom*ore left-handed pitcher Joey Perkins.
Jett tied for the team lead with 10 home runs and was second on the team with 40 runs batted in, while posting a .315 batting average (53-168) that also included nine doubles, one triple and 51 runs scored, along with an on-base percentage of .432 and a slugging percentage of .560 while playing in 49 of 53 games for the Statesmen this past season.
Palmieri led the team with a .392 batting average (40-102), including six home runs, 13 doubles, two triples, 33 runs batted in and 26 runs scored. He also led the team in on-base percentage (.479) and slugging percentage (.735).
Perkins led the Statesmen with a 7-0 record on the mound with a 2.33 ERA in 13 appearances. He allowed 15 earned runs on 45 hits, while walking 30 and striking out 64 in 58 innings of work.
While the Statesmen had three players on the All-GRAC squad, they did not have anyone make the 11-player All-Region 24 Team.
On the softball side, LTC freshman Jayley Akers was the lone representative for the Lady Statesmen, as she was selected to the All-GRAC Team and to the All-Region 24 team as a utility player.
Akers, who played mostly outfield for the Lady Statesmen but also saw time at shortstop and second base, finished her first collegiate season by leading her team in home runs with 18, which tied her for 40th in the country. She also led the team with a .432 batting average (64-148), while scoring a team-high 57 runs to go along with 36 runs batted in, eight doubles and a team-high 16 stolen bases. She also had an on-base percentage of .506 and slugging percentage of .851, both of which also led the team.
She was one of 15 players named to the All-GRAC squad, while she was among 18 selected for the All-Region 24 Team.
