If he's running at 1080p, he can definitely expect an increase in performance. If he has a 240Hz monitor and is looking to max it out, this will help. However If he's running at 1440p, it will be less of an increase because the games become more GPU limited at that resolution.
For context, there just happens to be a newly released video from Hardware Unboxed where they put the 5600X up against the 5800X3D which is very close to performance with the 5700X3D. There's about a 50% increase in performance between the 5600X (~108fps) and the 5800X3D (~150fps) on average at 1080p with an RTX 4090. At 1080p the performance is more CPU limited. [youtube.com]
I am currently running a 5600X with a 3080 at 1440p so this CPU upgrade doesn't make a lot of sense for me. That being said, it's still a solid deal. Hope that helps.

Even the 5800x3d is not really significant unless it's a 4080 or better. 5600x is solid for gaming in general.

5600x is a banger for the buck, interestingly low priced for the low end market competition which lowers the value of better processors like this. I see no point in getting this over 5600x at this price

\nIf he's running at 1080p, he can definitely expect an increase in performance. If he has a 240Hz monitor and is looking to max it out, this will help. However If he's running at 1440p, it will be less of an increase because the games become more GPU limited at that resolution.

\nFor context, there just happens to be a newly released video from Hardware Unboxed where they put the 5600X up against the 5800X3D which is very close to performance with the 5700X3D. There's about a 50% increase in performance between the 5600X (~108fps) and the 5800X3D (~150fps) on average at 1080p with an RTX 4090. At 1080p the performance is more CPU limited. [youtube.com]

\nI am currently running a 5600X with a 3080 at 1440p so this CPU upgrade doesn't make a lot of sense for me. That being said, it's still a solid deal.
