(SOUTHERN COLORADO) — As America approaches its 248th birthday, events are being planned across the state to help celebrate the patriotic occasion. From parades to fireworks shows, farmer’s markets, and sporting events, there is something for everyone this Independence Day.
Colorado Springs
- Star Spangled Symphony and 4th of July Fireworks – A nearly 50-year tradition continues, as the Colorado Springs Philharmonic will perform an exhilarating array of patriotic favorites at the Pikes Peak Center for the Performing Arts, which will be broadcast live over five local radio stations followed by multiple community fireworks displays at more than 10 locations across the Pikes Peak Region. - Switchbacks FC Fireworks Spectacular Night – The Switchbacks FC will take on FC Tulsa on the 4th of July, followed by a fireworks spectacular at Weidner Field. Click here to find tickets.
- Family Fourth at Rock Ledge Ranch – Head to the Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site with the whole family. There will be performances by the Pikes Peak Brass Band and the Seven Falls Indian Dancers. Enjoy some delicious ice cream, a wagon ride, a pie-eating contest, and more. Tickets range from $4 – $8, click here to find out more.
- Independence Day at the National Museum of WWII Aviation – Witness the warbirds that have defended America’s freedoms at the National Museum of WWII Aviation. Get up close and personal with some of the museum’s rare planes on display on the tarmac, as well as vintage cars from the Vintage Car Club of America. Then, witness the flight of the TBM Avenger WWII bomber. There will be activities for all ages, food trucks, drawings and more. It’s all happening from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the museum, located on the northwest side of the Colorado Springs Airport. Normal admission rates apply, click here to learn more.
Pueblo
- Rollin’ On The Riverwalk – The historic Pueblo Riverwalk offers a vibrant array of local food and retail vendors, boat rides, pedal boats, live music, and an electrifying fireworks display over the Arkansas River. Click here for all the details.
Pueblo West
- Jack Fowler Memorial Celebration – Featuring the new “Spray in the Park” event, the celebration will be a day packed with fun in the sun for the whole family, including a pancake breakfast, a baby contest, free hot dogs, vendors, and of course, fireworks in the evening. Fort Carson
- Freedom Fest – Fort Carson and 4th Infantry Division will host Freedom Fest June 29 (note this event is not on July 4) at Iron Horse Park from 4 – 10 p.m. and will be open to the general public. The event will feature family-friendly activities, a concert, and fireworks. Park admission is free. Fees will apply for attractions as well as food and merchandise. Tri-Lakes
- Tri-Lakes 4th of July Celebration – A jam-packed day of festivities in Monument and Palmer Lake. Attendees can look forward to a parade, street fair, fun run, pancake breakfast, beer garden, and plenty more! Click here for the full schedule of events.
Woodland Park
- Old Fashioned 4th of July Celebration – A patriotic tradition in the City Above the Clouds, the Old Fashioned 4th of July celebration welcomes locals and visitors alike to Memorial Park next to City Hall in Woodland Park, where there will be vendors, live entertainment by the Woodland Park Wind Symphony, food, games, and plenty of refreshments. Florence
- July 4th Festival – A day packed full of exciting events, starting with the Wet n’ Dry Parade at 10 a.m. on Main Street, visitors should bring a water gun to join the fun. Following the parade is the Pioneer Park Party with food, drinks, and music, plus a pool party and the Duck Derby. At night, find a spot and enjoy the fireworks show. Click here to plan your day.
- Red, White & Brews Fest – Another option for guests to enjoy after the parade is the Red, White & Brews Fest at the Florence Brewing Company. From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., the celebrations continue with live music, food trucks, and, of course, brews, before the fireworks begin. Click here for their Facebook page with details.
Green Mountain Falls
- Annual 4th of July BlockParty – A unique and artsy bash in Green Mountain Falls, visitors can enjoy live music, yoga, a pie contest, poetry, and dance performances. Let your own creative spirit soar by designing a water lantern that will be launched over Gazebo Lake. Click here for all the details.
Cripple Creek
- 4th of July Fireworks – Fireworks over the Rockies, in one of Colorado’s most popular mining towns! Enjoy the holiday in Cripple Creek’s historic hotels and casinos, and stay for the fireworks show just after dusk on the 4th. Fireworks will be set off from the south side of town, south of Myers Avenue. Click here for more info.
Falcon
- Pancake breakfast at Falcon Fire Station 1 – A yearly tradition, Falcon Fire Station 1 invites the community to come out and celebrate America’s birthday with a pancake breakfast and Boy Scout Troop 149. Breakfast and revelry can be enjoyed at Falcon Fire Station 1, 12072 Royal County Down Road, from 6 a.m. – 11 a.m.
Cañon City
- God and Country – The 4th of July celebration line-up includes County Wide Band, Applewood, and Brother’s Keeper. There will be food trucks on site and fireworks. DOC Honor Guard will also honor all veterans, first responders, and law enforcement. The event will take place at Centennial (Duck) Park from 3 p.m. “until dark.”
